Hello Rob, the security features that is built into the electronic license plate will not allow any unauthorized person to activate a registration number on their own. To explain a little bit more, before any registration number is activated to display on the electronic license plate, that registration number would have been verified and approved by the respective DMV. Before the verification and approval process is completed, our company would have provided the serial number of the electronic license plate, the personal information of the driver and the detail information of the vehicle to DMV. DMV will then check the information we provided against the information on their database regarding the driver and that particular vehicle. It is after DMV had verified and approved the driver and the vehicle that the registration number for that vehicle is activated to display on the electronic license plate.

Hello Idrees, thank you for your comment. Yes, the electronic license plate is poised to redefine the way we use license plate. It is an interesting concept and it has been fun working on it. It is a pleasure to be a part of the City of Tomorrow Challenge.
