Create a network of car-focused arterials, returning the rest of the streets to people by lowering speed limits and using bollards.
What is the farthest any citizen should be from quality green space in Pittsburgh? From a transit station? From a fresh tomato?
Thanks Diana,
We are hoping to work with the city to site the woonerf in a location that works for all. I am from Seattle, where we built a woonerf called Bell Street Park in Belltown, a neighborhood near downtown. A central location is ideal for showcasing the concept and communicating the benefits of shared streets to the most people. But we also see virtue in putting it in a neighborhood that needs a boost.
