What we believe
The ability to move easily from place to place increases access to economic, educational, and social opportunity. The Indianapolis of tomorrow makes this movement simple and affordable through an integrated transportation network where people can easily know and use options to move around city.
When designing this network, the different needs and preferences of communities must be taken into account. To create choices that work for everyone, The City:One Indianapolis Challenge puts residents at the center of the conversation and dives deep to understand the barriers that keep the city and its residents from reaching their aspirations today.
We aim to
Through the City:One Challenge, residents will work with the private and public sectors to identify unmet transportation needs, will collaborate on identifying solutions that address those needs, and will help select one or more pilot projects to share up to $100,000 in funding to launch their proposals.
Right now, we're in the Propose phase, so we want to hear your proposals for improving mobility in Indianapolis. By clicking the “Submit a proposal” below, you can submit your proposal for a chance to win up to $100,000 to pilot your idea. The deadline for proposals is September 17, 2019 at 4 PM EST.
For a detailed look at the synthesis of the research conducted during the Explore phase, read the full Indianapolis Challenge Report here. For easy access to information on the Opportunity Areas, Evaluation Criteria, and Supplemental Resources, view the Challenge Brief here.
The Challenge’s goal is to identify opportunities to create immediate impact for residents of Marion County and support long-term improvements to how people get around the Indianapolis.
A total of $100,000 in funding is available to test or deploy winning proposals in Indianapolis. Up to two pilots may be selected for funding with this demonstration funding pool. Terms of the award will be executed via a Statement of Work with the Winner(s), and all promising proposals will be considered for further partnership by Indianapolis and Challenge partners. In addition, all Finalists will have their applications reviewed by groups at Ford Fund and Ford X, Ford’s incubator. Winners will have the chance to pitch to at least one of the two groups as well.
The Challenge Question
How might we integrate transportation options to create a seamless experience for Indianapolis residents, workers, and visitors as they move around Marion County?
