I frequently take the bus to and from campus (from East Liberty to Oakland).

The Port Authority bus is usually reliable but I've experienced several instances of drivers not stopping for me.

I typically take the Pittsburgh Port Authority buses to and from campus, from my apartment in East Liberty to the University of Pittsburgh in Oakland. I primarily use the 71D and it is a fairly reliable and fast trip. It usually takes me a total of 15 minutes from door to door. However, the last time I was taking the bus home from campus, I was the only person at the bus stop, and despite waving to the bus driver, he blew past the stop. This has happened to me a handful of times in the past at the same stop in Oakland, and it is very disappointing to have to wait another 15 minutes for the next bus to come.

Hi Laura - Thanks so much for posting. Do you have any theories why the bus doesn't stop? (I'm assuming it isn't a bus that's so full you couldn't get on it?)

Yes, it was not a full one. My theory, based on prior experiences, is that the busses don't like to stop for one person because there are so many stops along Fifth Avenue. The other possibility is that the driver wrongly assumed that I was waiting for a different bus, as so many bus lines stop at that stop.

Interesting Laura... How do you indicate you want the bus to stop for you? Is this a case of you waving and stuff and the driver still goes by? In which case surely you have a legit complaint to the bus driver's management.
