Create a “seamless” and efficient transit network coordinating and incorporating all available mass transit offerings to increase ridership; resulting in less traffic, fewer emissions, less average commute time, less wear on infrastructure, more revenue to mass transit providers, more advertising opportunities (more exposure with higher ridership), and lowered stress levels to residents, workers, and visitors of Miami. Successful results will increase  revenue and ridership for mass transit providers and offer quicker and more affordable mass transit options than trips by personal vehicle.

This proposal includes a combination of research (surveying potential riders) and analysis services and a final product, the Seamless Mass Transit Plan, for current mass transit providers to implement in order to optimize their mass transit offerings. The end product will include the following:

•An Optimized Master Schedule (with breakdowns per mass transit provider) will be created based upon Client needs determined through surveys/feedback.

•An Optimized Master Route Map (with breakdowns per mass transit provider) will be created based upon Client needs determined through surveys/feedback.

•Potential Leads for Corporate Relationships (with organizations employing over 500 people in one location) to analyze and determine daily commuting needs for employees.

•Once the Seamless Mass Transit Plan is live, weekly content posted on one Facebook Business Page per existing mass transit provider to increase awareness of optimized schedules, routes, or details to encourage ridership. Content will be provided through the end of the project/contract.

•Monthly Analysis Report based on the Ridership Technical Reports provided by Miami-Dade County Transit and client surveys/feedback.

Funding Request

  • $100,000

Describe how you would pilot your idea (1000 characters)

Phase 1 of the Seamless Mass Transit Plan has five (5) Immediate Improvement Prongs to simultaneously address in order to increase its success, identifying and incorporating the most utilized existing mass transit offerings and high-density areas, with scalable support options to develop more detailed solutions as ridership and revenue increases. • Experiment, analyze, and establish schedules for peak, regular, and off-peak times • Experiment, analyze, and establish routes for high-density areas • Establish relationships with organizations with over 500 employees in one location • Activate Ridership Performance Team • Activate Marketing Plan to bring awareness to improved implementation

Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)

The Seamless Mass Transit Plan’s primary goal of increased ridership will be measured by total number of boardings, comparing performance data against Ridership Technical Reports from the same parts of the year in previous years. Supplementary Success Measures: • Schedules: Number of Boardings and Rider Feedback (surveys, correspondence, etc.) • Routes: Number of Boardings and Rider Feedback (surveys, correspondence, etc.) • Relationships: Number of Relationships established and Client Feedback (surveys, correspondence, etc.) from organizations with over 500 employees in one location • Ridership Performance Team: Number of Boardings • Marketing: Number of Boardings and Feedback (surveys, correspondence, etc.) A Monthly Analysis Report will be generated based on the Ridership Technical Reports provided by Miami-Dade County Transit and client surveys/feedback.

Hi C Abrams

I'm Wilda, one of your local community facilitators. It's so great to see Miami residents presenting exciting ideas to freshen up the city's traffic troubles. Thanks for adding your submission to the platform. :)As you know, we are currently in the PROPOSE phase of The Challenge. We are listening (watching, really) the ideas being submitted on how Miami can update how we get around. What is the idea that address how we, Miami, will attack the traffic issues?

If your plan, which is compromised of 5 parts, is implemented, what would the solution look like? Is it a device, a service?

So C Abrams what would the above look like as a prototype? Is it an app? Let me introduce you to Daniel French who is working on a "Passenger Vessel Service". Your knowledge combined could be good for co-working :) Don't forget to update your profile picture... you both, really. We're almost in the next phase.
