Weekend destination trips have significant unmet demand in urban areas because there is no cost-effective means of mobility. Car ownership, rental car and carshare are all expensive options. In addition, peer to peer car share models experience inherent limitations on addressing weekend demand. Vehicle owners want to use their car at the same time therefore supply continues to be constrained.

Traffic and congestion is not only an issue during commuting times but its also a problem leaving cities and coming back for weekend day trips. Ultimately in order to reduce vehicle ownership in cities we will need to enable better transportation for day trips outside cities as well as improve intra-city transit.

We have created a shared ride product that utilizes existing vehicle capacity on frequent weekend trips and enables a seamless booking experience for riders...A destination based UX with rides reserved in advance at a fixed price (up to $0.54 per mile). Riders benefit from a 40% - 75% reduction in vehicle transportation costs on the weekend and drivers earn $50 - $100 per trip (monetizing an existing trip they are taking).

Describe who will use your solution (1,000 characters)

Non-vehicle owners will be the initial target market. This segment of the consumer base can be both sides of the marketplace (our platform enables people to rent a carshare and share that ride). We will focus on the university segment because feedback from our alpha has shown a strong interest from this group of customers.

Further adoption will come from current vehicle owners as "drivers" and ultimately as riders once vehicle ownership begins to decline in urban areas.

Describe how you would pilot your idea (1000 characters)

We have completed our alpha testing and we are planning a beta launch in the fall 2018. All funds will go toward marketing and operational costs of the beta. Zero funds will go toward founder salaries and technical build costs. We currently have users creating and reserving rides in our alpha app.

We will make money by taking a commission from each ride on the platform. Once we complete our beta test we plan to expand the launch to the full market (currently ~20% of households in Miami are car free).

Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)

We plan to acquire between 1,000 - 2,000 users and generate between 250 - 500 rides over a 6 month period.
