The solution consists in creating a platform where citizens can make available the parking spots to users while their own spot is not used (ie while working, being on vacations etc) in exchange of money. The users can indicate the number of available parking slots as well as availabilities (time frame, frequence, etc). The geolocalisation would allow people detect private parking spots available around them as well as the price/conditions but also pre-book the spot in advance. A link (API) to the major navigations apps (google maps or waze for instance) will be done to indicate the route.

Describe who will use your solution (1,000 characters)

There will be 2 major profiles: - Drivers - Parking spot owners The owner would indicate the address of the parking spot(s), the dates/times of availability and the price. The driver will either geolocate himself or search for available spots in advance by entering the destination. Once he finds the parking spot he is interested in he can book it for the duration of his choice (within teh availabilities set by the owner) and pay directly the owner (through dedicated payment feature with credit card or paypal, etc). Each parties receive confirmation through the app and other channel of their choice (email, sms, etc). Possibility to extend the use to private business owning parking slots (manage in more flexible way the pricing for specific events etc.). Consequence: less cars on the roads while searching for parking, improved driver experience, decreased traffic in jammed areas.

Describe your solution's stage of development

  • Initial Design - you are still exploring the idea and have not tested it with users

Tell us about your team or organization (500 characters)

Team of 3 entrepreneurs in digital & tech area.

Size of your team or organization

  • 2-10

Funding Request

  • $100,000

Describe how you would pilot your idea (1000 characters)

Phase 1: technical development of the backend and front end of the MVP one one OS (either iOS or Android) Phase 2: beta testing (finding users on both sides, owners and drivers) Phase 3: correcting features, adaptation cross platform development Phase 4: full deploiment on app stores (Apple for iOS and Google for Android)

Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)

Having a pool of 1000 active users over the first 3 months and 10000 users in 6 months.

Hi Sardar - many thanks for posting, I fear you have been overtaken in that there are apps for this type of thing already available, some are posted into this challenge too. Have a look through the ideas and comment on the parking ones, see what you think of them. Katie - Facilitator.
