Cameras and applied Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence for enforcing minor violations

The worst part of my commute is always selfish (or bad) drivers. How can we improve beyond utilizing basic driver education?

Excuse the vulgarity of the picture, but be honest, we have all thought it. Whether it is at the person above or the person blocking the intersection or cutting us off without their blinker, it is frustrating being surrounded by selfish and bad drivers. Something Miami is known for. Beyond investing in better driver education for the bad drivers, how can you cure selfishness? By making being selfish an overall poor decision. It is within our technological capabilities to keep track of people who make constant minor traffic violations to the detriment of not just the well-behaved drivers, but the efficiency and flow of the system. I have seen several post talking about improving the traffic lights (which I strongly endorse and would be happy to partner with anyone for) but if people are cutting lines and interrupting the flow of traffic, the improved efficiency of the lights won't reach its full potential.
To reiterate, we should use cameras and AI/ML to enforce minor traffic violations to improve comfort on a commute and efficiency of the system as a whole.

Describe who will use your solution (1,000 characters)

Everyone driving responsibly would benefit. Even those driving badly/selfishly could benefit from subsequent education improving their safety on the road.

Describe your solution's stage of development

  • Initial Design - you are still exploring the idea and have not tested it with users

Describe how you would pilot your idea (1000 characters)

I know of several areas where there are consistent minor violations myself, but reaching out to the several departments that might be aware of better locations to set up a camera(s) to measure potential # of drivers effected and differences in traffic around the area either between violations or with a visible but passive police presence.

Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)

If the area had a better traffic flow, less hard breaks or horn honking ( or other signs of distressed drivers being negatively affected by bad drivers), and a lowered number of infractions with police presence then it could be considered a success

I have heard of systems like the one you are describing, but how does yours differentiate from others?
