Shyft brings new information to travellers and operators. Linking their needs together and making informal transport more formal and therefore safer. Working with the operators to identify routes and capacity we will develop a simple request/booking system that oes not require high-cost equipment (such as smart phones)

Describe quienes utilizarían tu propuesta (1,000 caracteres) // Describe who will use your solution (1,000 characters)

Travellers in poorer neighbourhoods who require safe efficient and low-cost transport to go about their daily lives. The solution will use existing low-cost messaging systems to request and book transport. We will work with operators to provide more effective route designation to ensure travellers have adequate information that allows them to select the right journey and operator. This will improve the efficiency for the operator as it will produce clearer demand signals and ensure supply is provided at the right time and cost. Ultimately we will understand demand patterns and help operators provide a better transport solution for those who need it most.

Describe la etapa de desarrollo de tu propuesta // Describe your solution's stage of development

  • Diseño inicial: aún estás explorando la idea y no la has probado con los usuarios. // Initial Design - you are still exploring the idea and have not tested it with users

Platícanos acerca de tu equipo o compañía (500 caracteres) // Tell us about your team or organization (500 characters)

We are a small organisation consisting of Andrew Everett, MD who has a background in automotive technology and research innovation support, Mike Potts a digital entrepreneur and Bhupen Patel as software developer. We are supported by two key advisors - Mark Preston, a transport technologist leading the drive to new mobility solutions and electric vehicles and George Economides who leads the development and delivery of transport strategy for Oxfordshire County Council

Fondos // Funding Request

  • $100,000

Presupuesto aproximado (500 caracteres) // Rough Budget (500 Characters)

The budget would be split into three key sections - planning, delivery, review. The planning would take three months and would include location/neighbourhood/route selection along with stakeholder engagement including citizens, local authorities and operators. The delivery would be a three month trial of the solution in the agreed location and the review would be a two month period to review findings and plan further roll-out in different locations

Describe cómo usaras los fondos para tu proyecto piloto (1000 caracteres) // Describe how you would pilot your idea (1000 characters)

We plan to use the funding to deliver a trial as described. Following the trial we would look to expand it to other areas either around mexico City or further afield. We see key markets for our solution being any developing country/region where informal transport is prevalent as our solution is low cost and targeted for those transport market. The revenue stream would be where we take a small percentage of each journey revenue - this is valid as we will increase the efficiency and utilisation for the operators. By providing better information to passengers they are more likely to use the transport offered.

Describe cómo medirías el éxito de tu piloto (1000 caracteres) // Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)

The measure of success would be the improvement in service levels identified by the travellers and subsequently the improved revenue/utilisation for the operators. The ease of access to improved and additional information on routes and seat availability will be a key measure of success - this will lead to increased use of those routes/seats. The pilot will also help us identify the effectiveness of our solution and help us develop it for future deployment.

Plan de sostenibilidad (500 caracteres) // Sustainability Plan (500 Characters)

The low cost solution will be supported by the small percentage revenue from each seat/journey booked using Shyft. We will need to develop a resource plan going forward to ensure stakeholders (operators, travellers and local authorities) have a contact person but this would only need to be light touch post trial. As we expand we will need to find local agent to help identify and manage future locations for expansion

Hi Andrew Everett ! My name is Pablo Bosch and I'm part of the City:One Challenge team. Thank you for posting your idea, your idea of creating a low-cost platform in which you can request trips is incredible, but how does this system will work? Will it also help drivers to maximize their daily trips?
