Our proposal is to introduce our vehicle, the COMET, to Mexico City. The City Optimized Managed Electric Transport, otherwise known as the COMET is a fully electric, zero emission vehicle designed for regular public transport usage. The COMET has a fast charging lithium ion battery capable of reaching 0-100 charge in 45 minutes and Formula E grade technology courtesy of our technology partners QEV Technologies. 

It has a maximum thirty person capacity, twenty sitting and ten standing, and possesses extra features for comfort and security such as air conditioning and free wi-fi. Onboard there are multiple features for increased accessibility and security, including an electric ramp, CCTV, a priority seating/wheelchair area at the front of the vehicle and onboard televisions which provide both visual and auditory cues for the visually and auditorily impaired. 

What truly makes the COMET stand out are its integrated technology solutions, specifically our integrated ticketing application for the phone and fleet management system. The ticketing application generates QR codes to be scanned onboard, but is also usable as a mobile wallet to send money to registered friends or buy items at partner establishments. It will also allow users to monitor the location of incoming COMETs through the built-in map. Of course, for those who don’t use smartphones or have physical difficulty using phones, it is also possible to do payment onboard in cash. 

Meanwhile, our fleet management system allows us to not only keep track of where our vehicles are, but also who’s onboard riding. This allows us to keep track of our passengers and better accommodate their needs, with this information being available immediately to our drivers via an installed screen. For example, registered persons with disabilities will be known to our drivers, who can ensure that they get the priority seating they require. It also ensures that our vehicles are always in good shape, repaired and maintained before any issues are exacerbated by continued usage.

As a form of public transport, the COMET should be usable by all people equally. Any person should be able to check our app, website, or visit one of our end terminals to book their space on a COMET. If using the app they can track the arrival of nearby COMETs in real-time, and if not can search online for our closest terminals or virtual stops. Our vehicles will stop at predetermined stops visible on our map, rather than stopping anywhere without consideration for other vehicles on the road. Wheelchair users will be able to avail of our motorised ramp for a smooth entrance and exit. When the COMET arrives passengers either board and scan their QR tickets generated by the app, or can pay directly to the driver onboard. Onboard televisions and voiceover announcements will display ads and provide signage, both visual and auditory, of when riders can get off at their next stop.

GET is a mobility company who are piloting a fleet managed electric mass transport vehicle. Since our conception we’ve been committed to creating a green solution for the parallel problems of congestion and pollution in the places where they’re needed the most. We believe that expensive long-term infrastructure solutions such as subway systems or light rail are not always the most feasible or effective solutions in every country, which is why we’re presenting an effective emission-free solution.

The monetary value of one COMET is 70,000 USD , while the value for a charger is 30,000 USD . Although this budget wouldn't cover our usual 12-vehicle fleet per transport line, it will cover one vehicle and charger, which will be enough for us to operate a pilot exploratory route as described in our full plan.

Our initial testing plan is to create an exploratory route from Los Heroes to Centro, which will operate at twenty minute travel intervals with ten minutes fast charging time between deployments. Due to budget constraints the route will only have one vehicle and one charger, although if there is sufficient demand for an expansion of the route service as well as for other routes we would look to find further investors and deploy within half a year. Since the vehicle and app ecosystem are revenue generating through the collection of fares as well as corporate sponsorships, on-vehicle advertising and in-app advertising, it would be able to sustain continued operation and even make a not insubstantial level of income.

We have two ways of measuring the success of our pilot program: quantitative data collection and qualitative data collection. Our quantitative measurements would encompass the number of passengers riding our vehicles, number of miles travelled by the COMET, number of app downloads native to Mexico, and the amount of revenue generated from both fare collection and all corporate sponsorship/advertising streams. These are easily measurable by checking our fleet management software, the respective app stores for each OS, and calculation of income. Our qualitative measurements are more to do with passenger comfort and safety, which we will be investigating through the use of focus groups, in-app surveys, and anonymised online surveys. While this data is more difficult to gather and assess, if the general comments and feedback is good when compared to currently existing modes of public transport it is reassuring for continued operation.

As stated earlier, our plan is sustainable due to the revenue generation streams making nearly double our costs on a monthly and annual basis. Our estimated annual revenue for a single vehicle is MXN1,729,875.00, with costs coming in at MXN986,097.32. This brings the projected annual income to 743,777.68 per single vehicle, which is not only sustainable but counts as significant income generation for involved partners.
