Pedals to Pennies

What if you were rewarded for just being a good driver with no crashes or collisions or damage to your car?

This is similar to my "Paces to Pennies" app idea, but this is dedicated to the drivers more than the walkers. However, those who have a car can apply for both "Pedals to Pennies" and "Paces to Pennies" since you become a walker once you're out of your vehicle. Anyways, the reason of how an app can help innovate driving and traffic can be by people having a more fluent psychological mindset in terms of "if I want to earn more, then I should do/act better".

Describe who will use your solution (1,000 characters)

By doing simple tasks like making sure you do not immediately drive off once turning on your car instead it letting it wait for a few seconds or even making sure your car is in perfect condition or parking in 1.5 to 2 parking spaces instead of 1 to even making sure you stop at every red light and not ignoring them while eating a hot dog, since I do see that happen a lot (excluding the hotdog) and that causes some collisions sadly, then you can make it to the point you are doing what you are rightfully as supposed to do as a driver while making sure that there are fewer car crashes on the road.

Describe your solution's stage of development

  • Initial Design - you are still exploring the idea and have not tested it with users
  • Pilot - you have implemented your solution in a real-world scenario

Tell us about your team or organization (500 characters)

I do not have a team created or an organization that helped me think of this idea. I thought about this idea/app (along with different variations of this app for different types of people like a possible Pokemon version app based on your driving) for several months before I knew about the COTC and never knew how to operate further from there, to be honest, but I mostly just need to explain it a little bit better, to be honest. This also explains why I am submitting this idea as an individual.

Size of your team or organization

  • I am submitting as an individual

Funding Request

  • $75,000

Describe how you would pilot your idea (1000 characters)

The first thing to piloting this idea would be to learn how to create apps that are dedicated to this type of program and service. It can range from taking days to a few months based on one's experience, but it can be done since there are many different types for many different situations and vehicles like for cars compares to buses and trucks. When it comes to how the app is generating money, then I was thinking of finding a way to program a stable financial/cash generator that only operates only for the app and nowhere else.

Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)

The success of this pilot would be based on how many are willing to test this app, along with variations of this app, to make things better and easier for people to financially manage and even help who are willing to do better while on the road as well. I know some would say that they are an excellent driver, but there are some flaws they may not know about that can be improved on when the road. This is, and can, also determined by how many are also willing to be more active when outside on the roads, streets, and highways, that you are earning what you actually put the pedal to the metal.

Sustainability Plan (500 characters)

Well, I personally think it would be fine with regards to having piloted ideas be created with new regulations on how people can get paid for being themselves while staying safe at the same time.

Hi again Lew Sterling ! It's Jasmine, one of the online facilitators checking in again. After reading about your last app idea, I definitely feel like this is a great idea. You could pitch an idea like this to some insurance company as a way to lower premiums on car insurance as well. Would the app keep track of driving activity in 24 hour increments like the walking app or would the information be continuously reporting. Also would there be a separate app or profile for those who drive as a profession? Or would the payouts only be available to those making personal commutes?

Hi Jasmine Comer - Nice that you really like the idea about this app. I am curious on how it would work when it comes to pitching this idea with insurance companies. It should just track the driving based on maybe the license plate as almost like a tracking device towards when you are on the road. Driving as a profession should technically get the same rate; as long as you are driving and driving safe is what it counts, to be honest.
