HUDWAY aims to bring to every driver a simple solution to keeping the eyes on the road while staying connected.
Now, the distracted driving it's a really serious problem in the USA.
Last year, 6,227 pedestrians lost their lives at the hands of drivers who were most likely driving under the influence of phone use.
The Zebra’s 2018 Distracted Driving Report reveals that for the first time since the advent of cell phones, car insurance companies are penalizing drivers who text or use their cell phones while driving. In fact, the average insurance penalty is up nearly 8,000% since 2011.
But the key solution is our awareness. Every time we start our commute.
Scientists claim that using a cell phone while driving can lead to cognitive and visual tunneling. This is the mental state in which your brain focuses on one thing, and as a result, it does not see other relevant data. In other words, you focus on your phone, not on the road situation.
Improved contextual awareness allows you to filter out the relevant from the irrelevant which minimizes your chances of becoming trapped by unimportant details (calls or messages that could be answered later for example). Put the phone down or use special “Do not disturb” apps.
That’s why we believe that automotive HUDs help to keep this contextual awareness.
