US131 and I196 interchange at rush hour

I avoid this interchange at rush hour or find an alternative.

Hi Friends: I'm Tom and I'll be one of the facilitators of this online community. I get around town by bike, car, foot and transit. I usually can schedule my trips to avoid rush hour. But, I experienced it in a car on northbound US131 two days ago. The ramp onto eastbound I196 gets backed up. So, I bypassed that interchange by continuing north to the Leonard exit. When I travel by bike I can use the surface road grid to avoid rush hour congestion and see different parts of the neighborhood I'm traveling through.

131 during rush hour is gnarly. 28th Street, East Beltline, and Alpine can be pretty bad as well. There's definitely room for improvement on these.

Agreed! It's terrible and few, if any, alternatives exist.
