Our patented, innovative SEEVAtherm Washer Fluid Heater System can quickly clean windshields for the 300 existing Detroit DOT city buses during snowy weather.  Without heated washer fluid, professional drivers must stop to clear snow off windshield wipers and edges.  This causes slip-and-fall safety risks for drivers working outside their vehicles in snowy conditions. With heated washer fluid, snow buildup is quickly removed from both wipers and windshields, so drivers can stay in their vehicles - and buses can keep moving on schedule.

Why not modernize existing transportation vehicles in and around the zone to make them safer and more reliable during challenging Detroit winters? Our system helps keep buses moving, keeps drivers safe, is easily retrofitted (each unit only takes a trained mechanic ~15 minutes to install), and is designed to last the lifetime of the vehicle. Each bus needs only one SEEVAtherm system, which we sell for $119. The entire Detroit DOT fleet of 300 busses can be upfitted for just $35,700.

Rough Budget (500 characters)

We will use this money to build and ship 300 units to Detroit DOT to upfit their entire bus fleet. If there are more than 300 buses, or if there are additional Detroit DOT vehicles that would benefit from this technology (e.g. maintenance vehicles etc. within the fleet), we can upfit these too. With $50,000 we can likely also subsidize shipping costs and installation costs. Let’s discuss more if we’re selected!

Describe how you would pilot your idea (1000 characters)

This product is already installed in 100s of State and Local DOT vehicles around the United States, though - we’re already in production and actively shipping product to satisfied repeat customers, including the New York State DOT Snow Plow Fleet. For a Detroit pilot, we recommend retrofitting the entire DOT bus fleet with our already-road-tested and proven system.

Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)

We’d measure our success based on field research similar to that conducted in our blog post linked above. City bus drivers will be a key source of our information, as will Detroit DOT maintenance and leadership teams.

Yes! The SEEVAtherm system is designed to last the lifetime of the vehicle and already has tens of thousands of miles logged on other fleets around the US. We encourage Detroit DOT to simply keep the systems on their vehicles after any pilot or full fleet installation is complete.

Diane thanks for submitting your proposal. I am part of the facilitation team at City:One. I was wondering what your thoughts are in potentially asking for a bigger budget, with the bigger funds being used to distribute your product for free to local residents.
Also, have you tried to contact DDOT, SMART, and the QLine on your product?
