We develop battery powered wireless sensors that count cars and they enter and leave parking facilities. The sensors update digital signage, websites and 3rd party apps of available parking info, allowing parkers to see which lots have spaces before and on their journey.

With over 30% of vehicle traffic spent looking for parking spaces, OpenSpace by Parking Logix will work to reduce the search time and travel time to find available parking in off street garages and lots. This in turn, reduces emissions from the added congestion, and also allows travelers to arrive @ their destination on time.

With over 300 sites worldwide, Parking Logix would be interested to see the reduction in search times, and the better utilization of parking assets over a period of time. With better utilization of the existing parking (by sending people to where there are available spaces rather than wasting time in full garages) the city can better understand its parking needs now, and for the future.

The money will be used for hardware, software and and services to install and maintain the parking wayfinding program.

Describe how you would pilot your idea (1000 characters)

1. Outfit all off street garages and lots with counting technology 2. Create a unique and custom signage program to indicate to motorists number of spaces on a network of signs throughout the study area 3. Link the data form the systems to in car navigation systems and apps via our open API

Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)

1. We would look at lot utilization before and after the installation of the systems to see if the assets are being used better than before 2. Interview parking patrons on how happy they are to see the real time occupancy counts 3. Compare revenues of the lots before and after test period

Sustainability Plan (500 characters)

Once the system is in place, it requires very little maintenance or work for the system to operate for years following. We would plan to leave the system in place and support them as we do with out clients worldwide.
