Attached you will find a guide on pairing iPhone's with Chrylser's Infotainment System (Uconnect). This is just a snippet of the entire manual, which can be seen in the attachment labeled "table of contents".

The project goal would be to complete this type of training manual for each different car manufacturer, and then implement a training program to teach the sales associates and service technicians the contents of the manual.

How will your solution benefit residents, workers, or visitors in the Michigan Central Station impact area? (1,000 characters)

Once the dealership staff is more comfortable operating infotainment systems and in-vehicle technology, they will be better equipped and able to demonstrate these features to customers. When customers leave the dealership feeling confident in operating their vehicle's technology, distracted driving is drastically reduced and overall community safety can be improved.

Describe your solution's stage of development

  • Prototype - you have built a prototype and tested it with potential users
  • Pilot - you have implemented your solution in a real-world scenario
  • Ready to Scale - you have completed and expanded your pilot and are seeing adoption of your solution by your intended user

Insights from previous testing (500 characters)

Feedback on the program has been very positive overall- the only obstacle has been finding the funding necessary to raise awareness.

Tell us about your team or organization (500 characters)

My name is Paige Donnelly, and I am the owner and founder of Emerald Infotainment, the name of the infotainment training program mentioned above. You can view our site here: www.emeraldinfotainmentspecialists.com I have spent my entire life in sales in one way or another, whether it be phone sales or automotive sales. The idea of infotainment training came to me at my time working in the phone store- many customers stopped in after purchasing a new vehicle very unfamiliar with how to work it.

Rough Budget (500 characters)

The money will go towards vehicle rentals, computer software, and PRIMARILY marketing for program awareness.

Describe how you would pilot your idea (1000 characters)

I would finish building the program for each car manufacturer first and foremost. From there, I would pursue marketing efforts in order to reach car dealerships and bring awareness to the program. Car dealerships would be charged a fee to participate in the program (which they will be willing to do- as the program has portions specific to helping dealerships sell more cars by better-utilizing infotainment). This fee will cover all travel expenses and other necessary costs to travel from dealership to dealership to perform the training program and distribute the manuals.

Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)

The success of my pilot would be measured primarily through dealership CSI scores- currently, infotainment and in-vehicle technology are the biggest detractors to customer survey scores for dealerships. If I can help reduce that problem at the dealerships I've served, I will consider the pilot to be successful. Longterm, the rate of distracted driving and accidents will decrease, but this number will be harder to track.

Sustainability Plan (500 characters)

The idea can fully be sustained once the pilot ends, as the dealerships will be required to pay a fee for their training program. As success rates of Emerald Infotainment start to grow and brand awareness increases, prices can increase as need be.

Paige Donnelly Thank you for posting this proposal! I am a Michigan Central Station Challenge facilitator. I'd love to hear more about how the familiarity of infotainment systems is correlated with driver safety. Do you have some additional information that you could share on this topic? Thank you! I look forward to hearing more!
