GATE [ Graphic Access Tabular Entry ] is a revolutionary user authentication system that retains account security even in situations where potential intruders witness the entries being made due to the fact that GATE hides user pins among other symbols, and some user pins might not even appear in a particular login session. This makes GATE an interception-resistant authentication system which increases passcode strength exponentially.

How will your solution benefit residents, workers, or visitors in the Michigan Central Station impact area? (1,000 characters)

GATE can use short and easy to remember passcodes to defeat peeking, keylogging, phishing and dictionary attack. The GATE system can be used for : door access, safe box, PC, mobile phone, web login, ATM, weapons system, facilities [ infrastructure ] ... The GATE system can greatly reduce the root cause of compromise in 66 % of cases and reduce cyber crime damage. It's approach is like hiding a needle in a haystack, so user passcodes are not exposed like the traditional passwords do. Dangers we all face : Weak domain user passwords is a root cause of compromise in 66 % of cases Projected cost of cyber attacks in 2019 is larger than $2 trillion globally Cyber crime damage costs to hit $6 trillion annually by 2021 Cybersecurity spending to exceed $1 trillion from 2017 to 2021 Human attack surface to reach 6 billion people by 2022 Global ransomware damage costs predicted to be more than $11 billion by 2019

Describe your solution's stage of development

  • Prototype - you have built a prototype and tested it with potential users

Tell us about your team or organization (500 characters)

I'm a Sr. software developer. Three years ago I watched a PBS TV show called "Rise of the Hackers", in which it talked about the vulnerability of the Internet and said traditional password is a weak link in cyber security. That inspired me to do something about it and fix this problem, so I came up with a solution called GATE : Graphic Access Tabular Entry.

Size of your team or organization

  • 2-10

Team or Organization URL

Are you submitting as a student team?

  • No

Are you submitting as a team from the Impact Area?

  • No

Funding Request

  • No funding is required

Rough Budget (500 characters)

No funding required.

Describe how you would pilot your idea (1000 characters)

Any organization interested in cybersecurity can implement the GATE system.

Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)

[1] How fast users learn how to use GATE [2] How easy it is for users to get used to it.

Sustainability Plan (500 characters)

Yes, the idea can be sustained after the pilot period ends, as more and more organizations use GATE, it's cybersecurity benefit will show itself.

Frank Ni Thank you for posting this proposal! I am a Michigan Central Station Challenge facilitator. This sounds like a great solution to cyber security issues that we are facing these days. Can you tell me a little bit more about how this solution would address the challenge question?

How might we improve mobility for residents, workers, and visitors of the Michigan Central Station Impact Area today while also preparing for the future of the area?
