Our vehicle was conceived to be an accessible personal aircraft which may be flown autonomously for short to medium range commutes.

With the DR-7, DeLorean Aerospace has devised the transport vehicle of the future. It will launch and land vertically, is fully autonomous, and operates using battery power, producing zero emissions. This personal aircraft is unique, with its compact footprint, incredible flight envelope, unparalleled safety features, sleek design and extremely low manufacturing and maintenance costs.

How will your solution benefit residents, workers, or visitors in the Michigan Central Station impact area? (1,000 characters)

As futuristic as it looks, the DR-7 aircraft is a real solution for today's traveler. With a rooftop, parking lot, or driveway instead of a runway, the average commuter will be able to make a trip across town in a fraction of the time that traditional ground-based vehicles would require. Additionally, emergency vehicles which utilize the DR-7 architecture would be able to make life saving rescues at speeds that even surpass today's most advanced rotorcraft. For densely populated city centers, these capabilities are invaluable.

Describe your solution's stage of development

  • Initial Design - you are still exploring the idea and have not tested it with users
  • Prototype - you have built a prototype and tested it with potential users

Insights from previous testing (500 characters)

In the course of development of our platform, we have constructed and tested multiple proof-of-concept vehicles, which successfully demonstrated the viability of our concept, and validated the results received from early computer simulation studies. These radio controlled models were also used to generate additional funding required to begin our full-sized vehicle, which is currently under development.

Rough Budget (500 characters)

All funding received will go toward ongoing prototype development and testing.

Describe how you would pilot your idea (1000 characters)

As stated previously, we intend to use any funding awarded to continue development of our core product - the personal commuter vehicle. We currently have this property under development, and have contracted a certain scope of work to a (small) US based fabricator, with some components sourced overseas. However, the resources we require to move forward are beyond the capabilities of the this builder, and so we are also speaking with larger, more established manufacturers to make this dream a reality. The history of technological innovation, in addition to it's manufacturing and marketing capabilities, make Ford an ideal partner in this venture. We believe Ford has a similar vision for the future of human transportation, particularly in the realm of autonomous vehicles.

Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)

Our success benchmark for our pilot would simply be the successful testing of our piloted prototype aircraft. This would be a logical starting point for the entire marketing and production development phase.

Sustainability Plan (500 characters)

Upon completion and testing of our Pilot vehicle, we will move out of our seed stage to begin our Series A. This round will support further development of our vehicle, and lead us into the early production design phase. Ideally, we would form a partnership or joint venture with and established manufacturer, with the goal of brining our vision to market as quickly as possible.

Thanks for submitting your proposal Paul DeLorean . I am part of the facilitation team at City:One. Can you explain to me the scaleability of the aircraft, continued sustainability, and how it can be affordable to residents in the city. Also, what are air traffic laws? Would this be a hindrance?
