Dispatching software that manages several or more vehicles often costs tens of thousands of dollars a year. For many smaller transit companies and hopeful entrepreneurs, this high cost is a barrier to starting or expanding a business. Dispatch Bot is the solution that offers businesses the tools to gather passenger information, schedule optimally, perform trips on time, track vehicles, review reports, and invoice.

Populations within the impact area are in need of transit which comes from a recognizable brand, offers comfort and reliability, is affordable, and can cater to their needs such as the use of mobility aids like wheel chairs. 

For passengers with recurring medical appointments or errands, DispatchBot offers subscriptions. It supports detailed information collection to ensure the vehicle is equipped with the capacity and any mobility aid needed to support the passenger.

DispatchBot offers transit providers the tools necessary to accomplish these goals through familiarity, low costs to invest in higher capacity vehicles and expand to manage larger fleets, and detailed passenger information records.

We currently operates all across the USA and has been the software of choice for transit fleets of up to 70 vehicles in some of the largest cities such as Seattle, Washington. It is the affordable software solution transit providers need to schedule, route, perform, and track trips safely and optimally.

- AutoScheduler: 

Increase operational efficiency by choosing the most optimum route 

DispatchBot has built-in artificial intelligence to help schedule trips in the most efficient manner possible. Dispatch Bot will automatically provide dispatchers with preferred schedules, from which dispatchers can choose the best, or create their own. The DispatchBot auto-scheduler automatically accommodates special vehicle requirements, ensures your passenger will arrive on time, the driver has ample time to make his next appointment, and much more.

- The Scheduler Board: 

Schedule and dispatch in real-time.

All schedules are created visually. The transit provider does not have to wade through huge lists of text, searching for trips and trying to determine where the trip fits. Our visual scheduler presents the entire day on a single board and uses colors to aid the dispatcher in scheduling.

- Vehicle Location Tracking:

View where very vehicle is at every moment of their route.

- On Time Performance Tracking:

Stop problems before they even start.

DispatchBot automatically alerts providers of trips that may miss on-time performance contracts; days in advance of you ever performing the trip. With a single mouse-click, dispatchers can correct the problem before it ever becomes one.

DispatchBot automatically keeps track of on-time performance record by day, week, month or any other time period. You can slice the report by account or driver and gain powerful insights to identify and mitigate issues.

- BillerBot: DispatchBot's invoicing system. When enabled, BillerBot generates invoices for each trip based on customizable rates. Dispatchers and managers can view revenue being generated in real-time from the scheduling board or reports. We also are integrated with Quickbooks online to streamline your invoices directly to Quickbooks online for ease of accounting.

- ShuttleBot: 
Our passenger app that allows riders the ability to book a trip with their provider and be notified when the provider accepts and schedules the trip.

- DispatchBot Driver App

Drivers always know their schedule.

Keep the whole team connected. Drivers can use their smartphone to automatically receive trip information and navigate to the trip using turn-by-turn direction GPS. The status, time and odometer of the trip is automatically recorded by the driver and captured in DispatchBot. The Dispatch Bot mobile app also allows drivers to collect digital signatures from passengers.

- Real-Time Reporting:

DispatchBot provides real-time reporting using real data. There is no need to wait until the end of the day, week or month to reconcile how your business is performing. DispatchBot allows transportation providers to get the right information when they need it so that they can make informed business decisions.

Run reports by driver, vehicle, account or virtually any other facet. DispatchBot provides the number of miles driven vs the original estimates, the time the passenger spent in the car, wait time, revenue and many other metrics. Learn more about DispatchBot's reports.

For this challenge:
We are submitting our service as a solution as well as several features we wish to add such as a General Transit Feed Specification, or GTFS. 

GTFS makes available to any potential passenger the trips a provider who is using DispatchBot offers. It is a game changer for passengers and transit providers alike. GTFS will allow the passenger to not only find care through applications like Google Maps/Google Transit, but it will also track where their driver is in real time through those apps allowing passengers to avoid unnecessary waits.

For transit companies, this feature will place the transit company's who use DispatchBot as an option for transit within Google Maps, thereby giving passengers more options to get the care they need.

We also propose enhancing our passenger app, ShuttleBot, and the driver app by adding an alert button within the passenger and driver app to report assault or medical emergencies. Real time tracking of drivers will allow emergency services to locate and provide aid.  

How will your solution benefit residents, workers, or visitors in the Michigan Central Station impact area? (1,000 characters)

We have 4 users: The transit admins, the dispatcher, the driver and the passenger. The Passenger's user journey is listed here: Using Google Maps or other service, the user finds the provider who uses DispatchBot. The passenger can then call the provider, or if the company sends the passenger an invite to ShuttleBot, the free ShuttleBot app allows the passenger to send the transit company a trip request with detailed information about any mobility aids needed for the trip. As the trip time approaches, the passenger gets ready for pick up. The passenger can view where the driver is at all times within Google Maps. Once the driver arrives, the passenger loads into the vehicle with any mobility aids. Trip commences. Other passengers may be picked up along the route. Once the vehicle arrives at the location, the passenger can disembark from the vehicle.

Our team is dedicated to consistent improvements in response to our client's needs. Over the past ten years, our support staff and engineering team have worked closely with organizations who use our software to design and launch new features that benefit transit companies. Two examples include AutoScheduling and BillerBot. Both of these features were indicated as needed by our clients and our research to ensure companies who use DispatchBot can stay competitive in the transit industry.

The @100,000 requested for funding will aid in the launch of the service, operational costs for DispatchBot, advertising within the Michigan Central Station Impact Area and training of facilities in the Michigan Central Station Impact Area who wish to use the software. We will be providing the software and training to providers for free during the pilot period.

Describe how you would pilot your idea (1000 characters)

When we implement the GTFS and ShuttleBot enhancements, our project will launch and be available to transit providers or hospitals not only within the Impact Area, but also in cities across the US where DispatchBot has successfully been used for over ten years. We will use feedback and our monitoring services to determine performance. The DispatchBot team is equipped with support services dedicated to receiving communication and responding to any questions asked. This support is a part of DispatchBot's operation costs. We will also be using the funding to advertise the service. Once the pilot period has ended, companies using DispatchBot will be charged a monthly fee based on the number of vehicles employed. a 12 month contract will be available for a discount. In the US, DispatchBot costs $35/vehicle per month.

Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)

The first measure for success should be whether companies are using DispatchBot to reach all communities of the impact area. If the service is not being used to reach these regions, our team will reevaluate advertising and consider improvements for the passenger app. Research will need to performed exploring whether passengers who need rides are using a application like Google Maps to find transportation providers. If they are not using a trip finding application, how can DispatchBot reach these individuals inform them of the options available to them? For instance, it's possible a modification to DispatchBot's passenger app to include a "Search for provider" feature. This would be an example of responses to obstacles we might encounter and are fully within our capabilities to address should we become aware of them.

Sustainability Plan (500 characters)

DispatchBot is an affordable subscription service for dispatching software that has been in business across the entire US for over ten years. As the pilot period ends, companies using DispatchBot will begin being charged a monthly fee based on the number of vehicles the company operates. This per vehicle cost is $35/month and is designed to be an economical, lucrative option for small or large transit companies who are either just starting their business or looking to expand their services.

Hi Amanda René Capella thanks for submitting to City:One! I work with the facilitation team. I was wondering what some of your team's successes in Seattle, WA have been. Seattle is a big city with many people living there. Detroit, while also big by size, has fewer people going further to their destination. I also have trouble understanding where the transportation vehicles come from. Would Dispatch Bot own vehicles and pay drivers, or do current transportation companies opt into Dispatch Bot?

Our team's success has been present in numerous cities, but Seattle specifically provides it's own challenges with the numerous water ways. Currently, our biggest transportation provider operates 70 vehicles throughout the area taking folks from inner city to the peripherals and vice versa, while also making shorter commutes throughout the city. Other transportation provide services as well. In a way, DispatchBot has really opened the market here, and we see mobility more readily available for passengers.

DispatchBot is a service for transportation providers. Our current focus is the non emergency medical transportation industry, but our software is flexible and can be used for numerous other applications such as general transport or delivery services. This challenge is exciting for us, because we'd love to see DispatchBot put to work to serve more communities. Efficient, informed transportation is our passion.

Smaller trips are very lucrative for transportation providers if they have higher capacity vehicles as these trips can be performed along already determined routes.

Our service gives these companies the opportunity to start a business with our low service fees and genuinely compete with larger companies in the area providing passengers with choice. The choices are available on Google Maps as our software utilizes GTFS to send all transportation routes of it's users to the feed for consumption by free apps like Google Maps or Google transit.
