Deploy a mobile app in accessible iOS, Android & Web formats localized in English and Spanish.  Based on the users profile the app will provide a selection of options for transportation to the desired destination.  The options include walking, automobile, bicycle, scooter, ride-share, car-share, taxi, bus, and specialized transportation.  The app also connects the disparate mobility and city reporting apps into a comprehensive view for the user.  A community comment and chat component to report on dynamic changes not caught by the sidewalk surveys and open data.

How will your solution benefit residents, workers, or visitors in the Michigan Central Station impact area? (1,000 characters)

Provide a local mobility solution with an improved routing algorithm taking into account the issues of sidewalk deterioration and access blocking, fenced yards or chained unfriendly dogs, street light conditions for the Walking portion of any journey. The direct reporting feature will improve timing for repair and replacement of sidewalk and other infrastructure impairments.

Describe your solution's stage of development

  • Initial Design - you are still exploring the idea and have not tested it with users

Tell us about your team or organization (500 characters)

Technology Transfer, Inc. Is entering its 3rd decade as an application software and development organization. I utilize my network of contacts to create teams with rich backgrounds in way-finding, location & public data access to deliver user focused solutions. I also draw talent from the local community to augment the technologists with data acquisition and maintenance of the boots on the ground tasks on a bi-monthly basis to keep the data fresh and as a check on the API data integrity.

Develop as described in the Pilot Budget (iOS/Android/Web app development testing and deployment (english & spanish localization),integration with 8 mobility & 3 community app/API’s, cloud infrastructure setup & recurring fees (6 mo)) by utilizing my team of design and development professionals along with implementation of Detroit Open Data feeds, GTFS transportation feeds, survey data and app analytics to provide a basic ML model to develop an effective routing algorithm. Monthly sidewalk surveys utilizing camera and GPX tracking. Internal resource contributions include my billable hours associated with DetroitRoute including managing resources and coding of the iOS and infrastructure stack. In addition to the previous descriptions the design, creative and community outreach staff will be billed @ a 50% discount and these costs are included in the pilot budget.

Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)
