Austin Texas is a place for 81000 students in K-12 schools, 93000 employees working in downtown with over  14700 downtown residents. There are about 35 schools located immediately east of I-35 within the East Austin area. During Peak times these schools generate combined traffic of over 10,000 vehicles converging on to these school areas to pick up/drop off students creating traffic bottlenecks and safety concerns for children. Families are not always relying on public transportation to take them from point A to point B including schools due to mismatch in time, the efficiency of managing multiple chores in one go. There are 33 million parents on the road every day to manage pickup and drop of children and do not have extended families to take care of this routine in the US. School traffic is the second-largest addition to the peak rush hour period.

After winning the CityOne Challenge in Miami last year PikMyKid was able to onboard 5000 users in less than 4 months, facilitating 47000 car rides, 28000 walkers, bus rider and late evening pickups influencing 30% community to use carpooling and walker pool. This resulted in net savings of $56,000 to the community in just the first 4 months and a reduction of 92,800 lbs of carbon footprint.

PikMyKid has the ability to create the maximum socio-economic impact for schools, families and improve safety at a minimal upfront cost. With PikMyKid, research has shown that schools have consistently observed reduced traffic congestion, increased carpooling among parents, and created safer processes for kids to walk home after-school, thus creating a more healthy and sustainable school community. Parents' work schedules have improved, students get more time with teachers and benefit from all enrichment programs offered by schools. PikMyKid is the only comprehensive dismissal solution for school districts and local governments to help their schools with traffic challenges and just won a competitive bid with Central Texas Purchasing authority overseeing in excess of 100 school districts in Texas. With a minimal license fee for schools and FREE app (in English and Spanish) for parents, PikMyKid offers the following benefits for families

-Parents spend less time in carline and able to plan their schedule with less surprise

-Connecting families to help pick up and drop off when there are limited or no Bus transportations

-Encouraging Walker pools helping community address the last mile connectivity for schools and reduce cars in the school neighborhoods

-Improve student behavior and enrichment activities with more parent engagement

-Reduce car idling time ( ~400 lbs or carbon emission reduced every week)

-Predicts travel time, remove guesswork with real-time communication from schools on any delays

Describe who will use your solution (1,000 characters)

PikMyKid will be used by school staff, families, students and regional DoTs to optimize traffic patterns around schools by the aggregated data provided by PikMyKid. PikMyKid is a comprehensive school safety system that ensures student safety & increases traffic efficiency while engaging over 85% of the parents & reducing congestion in school neighborhoods. With a high concentration of schools in the East Austin area, PikMyKid could help the entire neighborhood improve transportation. Once a school comes on board, the PikMyKid system automatically identifies parents as they are entering the ‘geofence’ & sequences cars so the school staff can prepare students for dismissal in an orderly manner. All students stay safe & warm indoors during dismissal without interfering with the traffic outside. PikMyKid encourages carpooling & allows kids to walk home safer with more accountability
