Our common goal is to improve Austin's eastern neighborhoods. We offer the solution to create a 6D mobile society, improve the spatial, economic, social and personal mobility of the residents. We must help the residents meet their transportation needs and get better access to healthy food and health services. As a long-term goal, we should help new businesses to settle in the area and reach the local community.

Our solution will improve connections between places and among people. Connect social groups and connect the local economy with the rest of the city. Once deployed it will help better understand the transport and service requirements of the residents of Travis County. 

Our goal is to better utilize existing resources and empower the private sector to efficiently expand their current business and future services in Austin’s eastern neighborhoods.

Nova Vector is proposing to create a smart connected neighborhood using modern, open-source and patent-free technologies like the Internet of Things, LoRaWAN, Blockchain, Machine Learning, and Real-Time communication to help spark the change and increase both personal, spatial and socio-economic mobility.

Laying down the technological foundation that can be used by residents and local businesses will help create innovative, smart, healthy and connected neighborhoods.

Relying on open source technologies that are tested and production-ready, will enable local creativity to take an active part and steer the development of the community.

  • Develop a system for elderly people to share the personal data with the doctors, etc.)

Describe who will use your solution (1,000 characters)

Jane is 37 years old, mother of two. Her car is in the repair shop and she needs transportation help for a week. Using the mobile City Pulse app, she can post a transportation request to her in-app group and get to a doctor appointment on time using a combination of carpooling and public transport. Mike is 73 years old. He doesn’t own the smartphone and has difficulties walking. Sometimes needs help to get to the grocery store. When he is unable to get to the store, he presses the LoRaWAN button connected to City Pulse and receives the phone call from the local grocery to arrange the food delivery. Aaron is a doctor, he would like to help the Austin eastern neighborhood get better healthcare coverage. Using the City Pulse app he can find the local organizations and events where he can participate, talk to the patients and help create mobile health popups where doctors would provide local services several times a month.

Insights from previous testing (500 characters)

All the modules that will be used in this project are tested in the production, however, the full solution still needs some integration to be fully operational. Each of the modules has proved that it is functional and horizontally scalable using the Kubernetes platform. The end-user application is in the design phase and has to be developed and tested.

Describe how you would pilot your idea (1000 characters)

Setup the backend server system. Then find 2 local service providers and help them onboard to the platform. Provide sensors, edge gateways, and application to the local service providers. Work with them to improve application usability. Work with service providers to increase the value the application provides to the business. Get to 100 local users and evaluate the mobile application and connected button. Work with users to better understand how they interact with the application. Work with users to better understand how they interact with IoT Buttons, sensors. Find 2 local Non-for-profit organizations and help onboard the application. Provide sensors, edge gateways, and application to the local organizations. Work with local organizations to improve application usability. Work with local organizations to increase the value the application provides to the organization. Hire local to help spread the app and help find 2 local businesses and non-profits to platform

Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)

We will create the KPI that will be tracked during the implementation and testing phase of the project. Those KPI will be used to improve features and applications during the project implementation and to evaluate the project success. After the pilot phase is finished we will conduct a survey and have users evaluate the mobile application. Survey if the service providers are seeing the benefits of using the platform and if non-for-profit can reach to the target audience easier than before.

Sustainability Plan (500 characters)

We can identify several revenue streams for the platform. The first is in-app advertisement where we will have several pricing categories for global companies, local companies, while Non-for-Profit will be able to apply for free of adds package. The second revenue stream will be revenue sharing for the services which are using the platform. The third revenue stream will be "Ready to Use" sensor kits for several business domains – Retail, Construction, Logistics.
