Current fundraising outcome for nonprofits, organizations, communities…has been falling.  Donors, especially Millennials, are not much engaged with asks for monetary donations. Megadeeds is an innovative fundraising mobile app that gets everyone in the community to easily participate in fundraising for social good causes. With Megadeeds’ fundraising marketplace, supporters and organizers can offer to sell goods or services (from used iPhone to baked goods, or offer to clean the yard or business facilities…), and give the proceeds directly to the fundraisers. Monetary donations are also supported.

Describe who will use your solution (1,000 characters)

Megadeeds was designed to let everyone in the community participate and make a difference to any cause they care about. Anyone older than 13 years of age (complying with rules of e-commerce purchase) can use Megadeeds.

Insights from previous testing (500 characters)

We learned a number of useful things with beta users: 1. Allow fundraisers to easily upload videos or banner images about the cause. We found that many supporters prefer to watch the videos or banners about the fundraising than to read a long story (which many legacy fundraising platforms currently use). 2. People tend to give more support to local causes. Hence the easier it is for people to discover the local social good causes, the better the outcome will be. 3. Sharing is important and

Tell us about your team or organization (500 characters)

We started Megadeeds when we witnessed a major challenge that local fundraisings faced – where the causes are meaningful but the engagement was low. Our prototype helps to solve this problem. By using our extensive background in engineering and nonprofit management, we were able to create a platform that solves a problem and help local communities to successfully fundraise.

Rough budget (500 characters)

Given the funding, our budget plan is as follow: - $2500-5000: Work with marketing firms to create a campaign (messages, artworks, automation for reach out emails) - $3000-5000: Facilitate meetings with with community leaders or local celebrities to help spread messages about Megadeeds and what it can do for local & community good causes. - $3000-5000: Attend fairs & meet up with local groups to promote Megadeeds and spread the message about Megadeeds and what it can do for local & communit

Describe how you would pilot your idea (1000 characters)

We would actively attend local fairs & community events, and seek to meet local community leaders to solidify initiatives that warrant fundraising. The focus would be to address the shortfalls, or to improve the mobility or the wellness of the communities. The fundraisings then would be started within the communities, promoted and pitched to its members. Efforts would also be dedicated to promote it on a larger & national level. Megadeeds already comes with a strong foundation that readily connects to social platforms making it easy to promote community fundraising campaigns.

Describe how you would measure the success of your pilot (1000 characters)

Several factors are used to measure the success of our pilot: - The level of engagement from community leaders: how they convey the purpose and the ease of Megadeeds in maximizing potential of social goods. - The level of engagement from community members: number of people who engage in offering goods & services, as well as how easy and seamless it is for people to promote their offer to help. - How users would communicate to one another to complete the buy/sell transactions, knowing that the proceeds would go into the fundraising. - How easy it is for people to use the apps to buy/sell, donate cash directly, or to share the causes with friends & family. - The outcome: how easy and how fast it is for a fundraising to meet or exceed its goal.

Sustainability Plan (500 characters)

Once fully developed and after the pilot period ends, Megadeeds should be able to sustain & continue by: - All of the content on Megadeeds are user-generated (fundraising campaign, offers to sell goods/services), hence we don’t need significant editor team. - Megadeeds charges a small fee on collected donations (including sale proceeds collected as donations). With campaigns & larger engagement from users, this will help to fund the team & operations. - The server cost is relatively low.

Hi Megadeeds team,
Can you tell a bit more about how the Megadeeds platform would address access to healthy living? It sounds like a great solution, I'm just looking to connect the dots a bit more.
